Two more commissioned purses!

I've been busy this weekend! After going to the craft show yesterday, I came home to get a couple purses done. The first one is for one of Sam's friends. I also made a matching wristlet for her. I think they turned out very cute! I finished these yesterday evening.

So after I got the other one done, I started on this one. It's from some of the fabric I got from the interior design shop in our shopping center. LOVE IT!!!! Although I think I broke two needles while making it. It took me all Sunday morning to finish it, but it turned out really good! This is my "Megan" bag. It's identical to the other one that was made out of the dark brown fabric with circles on - which is the purse that I use!

The back has a large pocket and I FINALLY found some sew-in velcro so I added that along with the D-ring.

New Fabric

The Interior Design business in our shopping center was needing to get rid of some fabric, so they invited me over to look. I like using upholstery weight fabric for purses - it makes them much more durable. So this is what I came home with:

LOTS of fabric for little money - and one of the ladies in the office wants me to make a purse out of the last fabric - so I have another commissioned bag to make!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!

I'll be happy to make anyone else a bag if they see some fabric they want, just send me an e-mail at: jylslife@gmail.com

The weekend's here and Sam and I are headed to a huge craft show at the Dell Diamond, so that will be fun! I can't wait to see what purses people make and what they charge for them.

My FIRST Commissioned bag!!!!

Last night I finished my first commissioned bag! It turned out really cute! I had made one of these before, but didn't use interfacing and I must say, it is much better with the interfacing.

It's losely based on a tutorial at craftster.org, but I made some changes on it so it will be called my "Alyssa" bag. :D

My "Tabitha" design purse - LOVE IT!!!!!

I'm so excited - I finished this purse last night and it came out GREAT!!!!! I found the fabric at WalMart - again it's a remnant. But I LOVE IT! I also used a red satin fabric to make the piping for the pockets and that added LOTS of detail - makes it look "Classy" according to my hubby.

Here are the pics:

Front Open - there are pockets on all four sides, I still need to add Velcro on the long sides:

Inside - again I put pockets:

This bag turned out better than I ever imagined! I'll list it on my etsy shop for sale once I get better pictures. I'd love to hear everyone's comments!!!!

Another purse!!!! This one is for my daughter, Samantha. (Tyler's mom) I've used this design (my own) for a couple other purses (Hybiscus and Lime Green), so decided to name it "Samantha". She was using another purse that I made, but the handle was too long - she likes them shorter than I do. When she was over the other day, she picked out this fabric and wanted this style, so yesterday I sat down and completed it.

There are pockets on each side on the outside, plus pockets on the inside and a d-ring to hold keys. The outside large pockets are big enough to hold magazines and such and have velcro for closures; the small pockets on the outside will be good for cell phones, etc. The flap on the top of the purse closes with a magnetic snap. I can't wait to see what she says!

Here is a picture of the front: It's kind of hard to see with this fabric.

New BAG!!!!!

I made another bag a few nights ago. It turned out very well! I found the fabric as a remnant at WalMart. It's a small messenger bag. Here are pictures:

And the back - I added a large pocket:

And I also added a d-ring to hand my keys on. This is not the regular place where I put them, but I think this works better!

And filled with all my "stuff":

Messenger Bag Prototype

Yes, I used my Ikea fabric for my prototype. I didn't use any interfacing, so it's not very sturdy. I think it turned out OK, but it will be better when I use the interfacing. I also have a few changes in mind to make when I make the good one.

Anyway, here are a couple pictures.

I also need to work with my new machine to get the tension configured correctly. There are a few loops on the bottom when I sew.

I'll post pictures of the good one when I get it done.

Any comments????? :D

The other Grandkids!!!!

Can I just say - Being a grandparent is THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
Since last weekend was Labor Day weekend, we had my girls and their kids over for lunch on Saturday. We grilled out chicken, had chips and dip and baked beans (you can't have a cookout without baked beans!!). Since I had not taken any recent pictures of them, I sent the girls out to take pictures of the kids.

Here are Angel and Alyssa: Angel is 3 and Alyssa is 5 - she started Kindergarten this year!

And this is Tyler: (well, Angel and Tyler)

I started another purse last night. It's just a prototype, but totally designed by me since I could not find a pattern or tutorial of one that is close to what I wanted. I have most of the pieces cut out and started sewing last night, but it got late and I was goofing up so decided to rip it all out and start again tonight. I'll post pictures as soon as I have it done.
