Our quilt class at church didn't end with the quilts, we met again on Monday night and Jean has a new project for us. We're doing a table runner this time, so it won't take near as long.
This is what she made (she didn't have hand outs for us, so I took pictures w/ my cell phone so I had something to refer back to):
We need 10 blocks of the "stars"
and 11 9 patch blocks
I still had a lot of fabric left from when I made my quilt, so I'm using that for the table runner, too. Yes, it would be nice to have it out of something different, but since I have sooo much fabric there's really no use buying more. I did use ALL of the dark blue fabric on the quilt, so I just have a light blue so I'm using that for the stars, biege for the off-white parts on both blocks, and the 9 patches will have red. I'm not sure what I'll use for the boarder yet. And I may decide to do something different with the colors once I get a few put together. I worked on the half-squares for the stars last night, so I have enough of them to do the table runner. I'll try to take pictures tonight.
And no, I still don't have the quilt entirely done. Maybe after my parents visit I'll work on it more. Now that the weather is getting warmer, the last thing I want to do is sit with a huge quilt on my lap.
In other news, Todd's 97 year old grandmother is in the hospital again having problems with her heart. The report yesterday was better and they said she may be able to go home in a couple days. She had been in the hospital a couple weeks ago, too, so this time really scared us. Logic says she won't live forever, but it's still sad.

Tyler's 4th Birthday Party
was a lot of fun! Sam invited some people from work and friends so it was nice to meet new people. The weather cooperated pretty well, it rained a little last night, so everything was still wet when we got up. Todd had to usher at church, but I stayed home to clean and get laundry done. (Last night we went across the street to socialize with our neighbors and had lots of fun there, too.)
I think the back yard looked pretty with the flowers. Here are some pictures I took during the party.

Just a quick post
because I have to get the house ready for Tyler's birthday party tomorrow. (Happy 4th Birthday, TyTy!!!!!)
Alyssa had one of her pictures in an art show last week! It was Thursday night, the same night as the Town Hall for Hope that we went to, so we didn't get to go. Tab took my camera to take some pictures, though. Here is Alyssa with her picture:
Tab also went back to Alyssa's school and took a few pictures of her playing.
Anyway, last night I fixed the top of our swing outside. (I posted some pictures before with the grandkids sitting on it.) Last year I re-did the seat and the top with canvas, but didn't know the canvass would shrink when it got wet, so it really pulled the sides. So last night I took the ends apart and added some more canvas so it fits better now. I'm hoping it doesn't shrink too much more, but it will work for this year.
Todd put up some more shelves in the office for my fabric. I need to find some shelf things - I don't know what they are called - today so I can add the last shelf. Then put my fabric on it and at least most of it will have a new "Home". The thing is, the shelves are right by the window, so I'll need to figure out how to make some kind of drape so that the sun doesn't fade the fabric too much. Overall, they really help with my "fabric stash" problem.
I did go over to Kinsey Interiors and bought some new fabric to make a laptop case and hopefully a matching purse, but haven't started it yet. I did get the fabric washed, so whenever I have time it's ready. I'd imagine I won't get to it until after Mom and Dad come down in May, though.
Have a great Weekend, everyone! I'll try to update with pictures from the birthday party on Sunday.

It's been a while.......
since I last posted. Todd continued working in the garage and it's FINALLY done! Here are a couple pictures . (Todd actually MADE the workbench! There was a smaller one there that he tore out and built a much longer one.
While he was finishing that on Sunday, I decided to get some flowers for the backyard. I bought a couple hanging baskets and some other flowers at Home Depot. I had a couple empty hanging baskets at home from plants that died, so used them and leftover potting soil and transplanted the flowers. We have a total of five hanging plants back there. After that, I decided I needed some more so ran to WalMart and bought a bunch of other perennials and more potting soil - again, had pots in the garage from years gone by. Right now I have the plants on the steps next to the house because if I put them out too far into the backyard the deer will eat them.
See Brute peeking out at me? He's wondering why I went outside and made him stay inside! lol
I decided to add a splash of color in the front of the house.
Sunday afternoon we are having Tyler's birthday party here, so I'll move the flowers out then.
I'm waiting for Todd to hang some more shelves in the office for my fabric - I have a HUGE pile that I don't have room for! Hopefully tomorrow night. Tonight he put out poison for the nasty fire ants and did some other stuff outside.
I went to the gym this morning - up at 4:45 am so I'm tired and will be heading to bed soon.
Thursday night we are going to Dave Ramsey's "Town Hall for Hope" here in town. It will be a lot of fun and I'm very excited! http://www.townhallforhope.com/

Tax Day
It's that time of year again! We've already sent our income tax return off - along with our check. :(
Todd worked on my car all weekend and it's running great now. I STILL haven't sewn anything new, even though I have two more grocery bags cut out . I need to get them done so I can post the set of four bags on my etsy account.
I still haven't started cleaning for when Mom and Dad come down. I guess I've been the master of procrastination lately!!!!!
Todd's still working on getting the garage re-organized now that the boat is gone. The freezer and refrigerator have been moved closer to the door, so that is really nice. Last night he tore down the work bench that was there when we moved here and is planning to make one about four times that big.
Nothing else new at the Godwin house.
Hope everyone has a great HUMP Day!!!!

Hoppy Easter!!!!! :D
Yesterday we had Tab and Sam and their families over to dye Easter eggs and do a quick egg hunt. It was a lot of fun. Instead of making a huge meal, I just made some of their favorite snack foods - Nacho Dip, Cheese Ball and Lil Smokies in BBQ Sauce.
We started out with about three dozen eggs, so each kid had 9 to color. Jason always likes to "help" Tyler dye his eggs.
Almost done - Todd decided to sit down to watch. It was nice that he was home to spend this time with the grandkids.
Jason (Sam's husband) and Tyler
Dominick - Tab's boyfriend's son.
Alyssa
Angel
After the eggs had time to dry, Sam and I hid the eggs in the backyard and let the kids find them. It was a lot of fun!
I put one up in a tree to see if anyone would find it. We had to point it out to them.....

The new desks in the office
make me really happy!!!!!
In case you don't remember, this is how it used to look (messy, messy, messy, and very crowded!!!):
And this is now - I threw out a bunch of stuff that we didn't need; put some stuff in it's correct place that should have been done a long time ago and organized lots of stuff in the desks. Todd's desk is on the right - notice how he doesn't have anything on it? He pushed it all over to my desk - the one with the laptop on it :D :
I cleaned off all the stuff that was on the shelves, and now have a lot of the purses and cosmetic bags and stuff I have for sale. I still need to go through everything on the small bookcase:
Our filing cabinet with the printer on it - and Todd's beautifully clean, organized desk (lol):
We moved the bulletin board so it's in the middle. The right sides of the desk don't have three drawers - they are old and had the typewriter shelves - if you pulled hard enough, the shelf would pop up but we disconnected the springs so we now have a slide out shelf that will hold a lot of binders and things. The left sides have three long drawers - I kind of shoved stuff in my drawers so need to go through them some more, but they are certainly not full! :
Eventually we need to get a new office chair - the grey one is broke and won't go any higher.
Over all it was a great buy - those two large desks for $35!!! We had an excellent weekend between selling the boat and getting the desks!!!!
Hope everyone elses's weekends were productive!

They say there are two happy days when you own a boat....
The first is the day you buy it and the other is the say you sell it. :D
It's GONE!!! We sold the boat!!!!!! Had someone come HOURS earlier than they were supposed to, but he had cash, so it's done. Now the garage seems EMPTY.
I also lucked out and found two old, large desks at a thrift store this morning - actually got both of them for what I would have paid for one. So we have re-arranging of furniture to do in the office/sewing room once they are cleaned up. The desks will store a lot of stuff, so it will be really nice to get everything it's own place and keep it there.
Long day and it's only 4:16. I'll try to update photos once we get some more work done.

Wish us luck.....
We're selling our boat. We posted it on Craigslist this week and have a few people who want to come look at it on Saturday. We spent many hours on the lake with the girls while they were younger - they all learned to waterski and we tubed a lot. But now that they are grown and most of them have their own kids, it just sits in our garage, so it's time to get rid of it.
Tyler will be sad, he liked to "drive" it when they were here.
Todd's after me to run, so I'll try to update more later.
